The Role: 

Our Client is privately owned NZ company who specialise in the shipping and freight business and have an exciting opportunity to work within a busy team where you will facilitate and plan the movement of export cargo to a variety of destinations globally. You will assist with the implementation and maintenance of plans and programmes for your assigned export customers.

Responsibilities include:

Maintain a high level of customer service which is courteous, prompt and efficient with both customers and service providers (shipping lines, transport companies and overseas agents).

Implementation of new plans and programmes in conjunction with the Account/Trade Manager.

Handling export consignments from booking stage through to file reconciliations.

Identifying opportunities to enhance the relationship with your customers.

Assist customers with forecasting, booking and tracking of shipments.

Pricing export shipments into market and quoting customers

Assisting exporters to ascertain best routes and terms of sale relevant to each market.

Identifying market access requirements and assisting exporter with compliance procedures.

Processing export documentation and ensuring all invoicing is up to date and billed to the correct party.

 Skills and Experience required:

At least three years relevant experience in a freight forwarding company, preferably in exports.

Working knowledge of Incoterms (2020).

Relevant freight industry and product knowledge and can apply this experience appropriately.

Intermediate level of literacy in CargoWise and Microsoft Office products. Additional knowledge of other freight products and/or ERP systems is of benefit.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail and experience in dealing with conflict resolution.

Understanding of specialised various foreign security filing requirements.

Previous experience dealing with hazardous cargo, Letters of Credit and Marine Insurance.

Proficient and accurate with numbers and freight calculations including foreign currencies and forex conversion calculations.

Your ability to identify potential problems and your attention to detail are second to none.  Hard working and dedicated with flexiblity when needed to get a job done outside normal hours.
